Phone Overview
The Honor Magic V5 is a book-style foldable that launched in China on July 2, 2025 and globally on July 15, 2025. Its main selling point is thinness: it measures 4.1 mm unfolded and 8.8 mm folded in the Ivory White version. It is aimed at buyers who want a large foldable screen in a slim, relatively light body.
Performance and Processor
The phone uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm), with a CPU at up to 4.32 GHz and an Adreno 830 GPU. The global model has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. China versions offer 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. SpecHub has not benchmarked the phone.
Display Experience
The inner display is a 7.95-inch foldable LTPO OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support. The cover display is also LTPO OLED at 120Hz. The LTPO technology lets the refresh rate vary to save power.
Camera Experience
The rear cameras are a 50MP main (f/1.6), a 50MP ultrawide (f/2.0) and a 64MP telephoto (f/2.5, 1/2.0-inch sensor). The front cameras are 20MP on both the cover and inner displays. SpecHub has not tested image quality.
Battery and Charging
The global model has a 5820 mAh silicon-carbon battery, while the China version has 6100 mAh. Wired charging is 66W and wireless charging is 50W, with reverse charging. We have no endurance or charge-time tests.
Software and Features
The phone launched with Android 15 and MagicOS 9.0. It is rated IP58 and IP59, which covers dust, water immersion and high-pressure water jets. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 6.0 and an infrared blaster.
Who Should Consider This Phone?
People who want a large foldable screen but dislike bulky foldables will find the thin, light body appealing, especially in the Ivory White version.
Who May Prefer Another Phone?
Buyers who want the largest possible battery should note that the global model is smaller than the China version. Those on a budget may prefer a non-folding phone.
