Phone Overview
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra was announced and released on February 27, 2025. It is the camera-focused model of the Xiaomi 15 series, with a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 1-inch type main camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto.
It sits between the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra (Xiaomi skipped the "16" name). GSMArena lists different batteries by market, with 5,410mAh for the global version and 6,000mAh for China, and different network bands, so check the exact version before buying.
Performance and Processor
The chipset is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750-AB, 3 nm), with two Oryon V2 Phoenix L cores at up to 4.32GHz and six Phoenix M cores at 3.53GHz, plus an Adreno 830 GPU. Configurations are 12GB RAM with 256GB, and 16GB RAM with 512GB or 1TB, all with UFS 4.1 storage and no card slot.
Xiaomi lists a dual-channel IceLoop cooling system. SpecHub has not run benchmarks or thermal tests, so no performance claim is made here.
Display Experience
The display is a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED at 1440 x 3200 pixels (about 522 pixels per inch) with an adaptive 1 to 120Hz refresh rate. It supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and Xiaomi and GSMArena list a 3,200-nit peak brightness, which is a listed figure and not a SpecHub measurement.
Xiaomi lists 1920Hz PWM dimming plus DC dimming, and Xiaomi Shield Glass 2.0 protection. The 32MP selfie camera (f/2.0) records 4K video at up to 60fps.
Camera Experience
The rear system has four cameras: a 1-inch type 50MP main (f/1.6), a 50MP 3x telephoto (70mm, f/1.8), a 200MP periscope telephoto (100mm, f/2.6, 4.3x optical zoom) and a 50MP ultrawide (115 degrees). A TOF depth sensor, laser autofocus and Leica lenses are also listed.
Video goes up to 8K at 30fps, with 4K at up to 120fps and 10-bit Dolby Vision recording. These are listed capabilities; SpecHub has not tested photo or video quality.
Battery and Charging
The global version lists a 5,410mAh silicon-carbon battery and the China version 6,000mAh. Wired charging is 90W and wireless is 80W, though Xiaomi notes that wireless chargers are sold separately. Reverse wireless charging is supported, but sources disagree on the wattage, so no figure is given.
SpecHub has not run battery-life tests, so no endurance claim is made here.
Software and Features
The phone launched with Android 15 and HyperOS 2, and GSMArena lists up to 4 major Android upgrades. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth with aptX HD, aptX Adaptive and LHDC 5 codecs, NFC, an infrared port and a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with DisplayPort.
It has an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor, IP68 dust and water resistance and stereo speakers. There is no 3.5mm jack and no FM radio.
Who Should Consider This Phone?
People who prioritise camera hardware, with a 1-inch main sensor and two different telephoto lenses, and who want a large flagship with fast wired and wireless charging will find the most to like.
Who May Prefer Another Phone?
Buyers who want a lighter or more compact phone, a headphone jack or the larger China-model battery may prefer another phone. Buyers who want the newer chipset and Android version should look at the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
Editorial Verdict
On paper, the 15 Ultra is a camera-first flagship with 3x and 4.3x telephoto lenses, a bright high-resolution display and fast charging, balanced by its weight and thickness and a smaller global battery. It suits people who choose a phone mainly for camera range.
