The Pixel 9 Pro is the compact flagship of Google's 2024 line. It has the same 6.3-inch screen size as the Pixel 9 but adds a higher-resolution LTPO panel, 16GB of RAM, a telephoto camera and a 42MP front camera. It was released on September 4, 2024 at $999 in the US.
The phone uses the Google Tensor G4 with the Titan M2 security chip, 16GB of RAM and storage of up to 1TB. Google promises seven years of OS and security updates. SpecHub has not benchmarked the phone.
The 6.3-inch Super Actua OLED display has 1280 x 2856 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, with a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. That is sharper and brighter than the 1080 x 2424 panel of the standard Pixel 9.
The rear cameras are a 50MP main, a 48MP ultrawide and a 48MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom. The front camera is 42MP. SpecHub has not tested image quality.
The battery is 4700 mAh with 27W wired charging and 21W wireless charging, plus Battery Share. We have no endurance tests.
The phone launched with Android 14 and has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP68 resistance.
Buyers who want a compact phone with a long zoom lens and a high-resolution display will find it a good fit.
People who want a larger screen and battery should look at the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Those who do not need a telephoto lens may prefer the Pixel 9.
The Pixel 9 Pro offers a flagship camera set and display in a compact body. Its main trade-offs are the price and the smaller battery compared with the XL.
