This is an editorial analysis of the specifications listed on this page. It is not based on SpecHub lab testing, so it makes no claims about benchmarks, battery life or camera results. Manufacturer lab figures are not reproduced here.
Phone Overview
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is the largest phone in Apple's 2024 lineup, with a 6.9-inch screen and the biggest reported battery among the 2024 iPhones. It shares its chip, cameras and titanium build with the smaller 16 Pro. It is aimed at buyers who want maximum screen size and battery capacity.
Performance and Processor
It uses the Apple A18 Pro (3 nm) with a six-core CPU and six-core GPU, and independent sources report 8GB of RAM. Storage starts at 256GB, with 512GB and 1TB options and no card slot. SpecHub has not benchmarked the phone.
Display Experience
The 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display has 1320 x 2868 pixels and an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate with Always-On mode. Apple rates it for 1,000 nits typical, 1,600 nits HDR peak and up to 2,000 nits outdoors. The large panel is well suited to video and reading.
Camera Experience
The rear cameras are a 48MP main, a 48MP ultrawide and a 12MP 5x telephoto. The front camera is 12MP. SpecHub has not tested image quality, and extra lens figures are omitted because they were not verified.
Battery and Charging
Independent sources report a 4685 mAh battery, compared with 3582 mAh reported for the iPhone 16 Pro. Apple does not publish capacity. Charging speeds are not listed because they could not be verified. We have no endurance tests.
Software and Features
The phone launched with iOS 18, with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and USB-C at USB 3 speeds. It has Face ID, the Action button and Camera Control.
Who Should Consider This Phone?
Heavy video watchers, travellers and anyone who wants the biggest iPhone screen and battery of the 2024 lineup will benefit most.
Who May Prefer Another Phone?
People who want a smaller, lighter phone should choose the iPhone 16 Pro. Anyone who wants a 128GB entry option will not find it here.
Editorial Verdict
The iPhone 16 Pro Max pairs the full Pro camera set with a big screen and a large reported battery. Its size and 227 g weight are the main trade-offs.
