This is an editorial analysis of the specifications listed on this page. It is not based on SpecHub lab testing, so it makes no claims about benchmarks, battery life or camera results. Manufacturer lab figures are not reproduced here.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro was announced and released in China on October 29, 2024, alongside the Xiaomi 15, as one of the first phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It is the larger and higher-end of the two, with a 6.73-inch screen, a 6,100mAh battery and a 5x periscope telephoto.
It is a China-market model. GSMArena's review says it will likely not be released outside China, so international buyers looking at the Xiaomi 15 series are choosing between the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It is not related to the Xiaomi 17 Pro, which is a separate China-only model.
The chipset is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750-AB, 3 nm), with two Oryon V2 Phoenix L cores at up to 4.32GHz and six Phoenix M cores at 3.53GHz, plus an Adreno 830 GPU. RAM is 12GB or 16GB (up to 16GB of LPDDR5X per Fonearena), and there is no card slot.
Fonearena also describes a wing-shaped cooling system with a heat-dissipation area of up to 4,053 mm². SpecHub has not run benchmarks or thermal tests, so no performance claim is made here.
The display is a 6.73-inch LTPO OLED at 1440 x 3200 pixels (about 522 pixels per inch) with a 1 to 120Hz refresh rate, 1920Hz PWM dimming, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. A peak brightness of 3,200 nits is listed, which is a listed figure and not a SpecHub measurement.
GSMArena's launch report describes slimmer borders, micro-curved corners and Xiaomi's Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0. The 32MP selfie camera is shared with the Xiaomi 15.
The rear system has three 50MP cameras with Leica optics, and GSMArena's launch report highlights a 5x periscope telephoto. The main camera is described as a 1/1.31-inch sensor with a 23mm equivalent lens. Other camera specifications, such as apertures for the telephoto and ultrawide and video modes, were not confirmed from more than one source and are not listed.
SpecHub has not tested photo or video quality.
The battery is 6,100mAh with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. Fonearena notes an energy density of 850Wh/L, a manufacturer figure. SpecHub has not run battery-life tests, so no endurance claim is made here.
The phone runs Android 15 with HyperOS 2 and has an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor and IP68 dust and water resistance. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth versions were not confirmed from more than one source and are not listed.
It has Dual Nano-SIM support and only China network bands are listed, so it is not suited to many international networks.
People in China, or importers comfortable with a China-only model, who want a large flagship with a periscope telephoto and a big battery, will find the most to like.
Buyers outside China who want warranty, global network bands and Google services should look at the Xiaomi 15 or Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Buyers who want a newer chipset should look at the Xiaomi 17 series.
On paper, the 15 Pro is a large-battery flagship with a 5x periscope, positioned between the Xiaomi 15 and the Ultra, and it is limited by its China-only availability. It suits users in China who want the strongest non-Ultra Xiaomi of its generation.
