This is an editorial analysis of the specifications listed on this page. It is not based on SpecHub lab testing, so it makes no claims about benchmarks, battery life or camera results. Manufacturer lab figures are not reproduced here.
The Galaxy A36 5G is the lower-priced of Samsung's two main 2025 A-series phones, sitting below the Galaxy A56 5G. It has a 6.7-inch 120Hz display, IP67 resistance and a long software-update promise. It suits buyers who want a mainstream Samsung phone with a long support life at a moderate price.
The phone uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4 nm) with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 710 GPU. Depending on the region, RAM is 6GB, 8GB or 12GB and storage is 128GB or 256GB (UFS 2.2). There is no memory card slot. The Galaxy A56 5G uses a Samsung Exynos 1580 instead. SpecHub has not benchmarked either phone.
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display has 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, with Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front. A 120Hz panel makes scrolling and animations smoother than the 60Hz screens common at lower prices.
The rear cameras are a 50MP main camera with optical stabilisation, an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro. No telephoto lens is listed. The Galaxy A56 5G has a higher-resolution ultrawide camera at 12MP. SpecHub has not tested image quality, and aperture and front-camera details are omitted because they were not verified.
The battery is 5000 mAh with 45W wired charging. Wireless charging is not listed. We have no endurance or charge-time tests.
The phone runs Android 15 with One UI 7. Samsung promises six generations of OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates, which is unusually long for this price class. It supports NFC and dual SIM with a Nano-SIM and an eSIM.
People who keep phones for many years, and want updates, a 120Hz screen and water resistance without paying for the A56, are the best fit.
Buyers who want a metal frame, a stronger ultrawide camera or a faster Exynos chip may prefer the Galaxy A56 5G. People who want wireless charging or a telephoto lens need to look higher up the range.
The Galaxy A36 5G is a solid mid-range phone whose main strengths are its update policy, display and battery. It trades some build and camera quality against the A56.
