This is an editorial analysis of the specifications listed on this page. It is not based on SpecHub lab testing, so it makes no claims about benchmarks, battery life or camera results. Manufacturer lab figures are not reproduced here.
The Galaxy A56 5G is the higher-priced of Samsung's two main 2025 A-series phones. Compared with the A36, it has an aluminum frame, an Exynos 1580 chip and a higher-resolution ultrawide camera. It suits buyers who want a better-built mid-range Samsung with the same long update plan.
The phone uses the Samsung Exynos 1580 with an octa-core CPU that runs at up to 2.9 GHz. RAM is 8GB or 12GB and storage is 128GB or 256GB, with no memory card slot. The Galaxy A36 5G uses a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 instead. SpecHub has not benchmarked either phone, so no performance claims are made.
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display has 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. It matches the A36 on paper, so the display is not the main reason to choose one over the other. Dual stereo speakers are listed, which helps for video.
The rear cameras are a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro. No telephoto lens is listed. The ultrawide is a step up from the 8MP unit on the A36. SpecHub has not tested image quality, and apertures, stabilisation and front-camera details are omitted because they were not verified.
The battery is 5000 mAh with 45W wired charging, the same as the A36. Wireless charging is not listed. We have no endurance or charge-time tests.
The phone runs Android 15 with One UI 7. Samsung lists six generations of OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates. The USB port is USB-C.
Buyers who want a metal frame, stereo speakers and a better ultrawide camera in a mid-range Samsung, and who plan to keep the phone for years, are the target.
People on a tighter budget may prefer the Galaxy A36 5G, which has the same display and battery. Those who want wireless charging or a telephoto lens should look at more expensive Galaxy models.
The Galaxy A56 5G refines the A36 formula with a better frame and ultrawide camera while keeping the same display, battery and update promise. The extra cost is a matter of how much those changes matter to you.
