This is an editorial analysis of the specifications listed on this page. It is not based on SpecHub lab testing, so it makes no claims about benchmarks, battery life or camera results. Manufacturer lab figures are not reproduced here.
The Galaxy M56 5G is a thin, light mid-range phone from Samsung's M series, released on April 17, 2025. At 7.2 mm and 180 g it is lighter than the Galaxy A36 5G (195 g), while keeping the same 5000 mAh battery and 45W charging. It suits buyers in markets where the M series is sold who want a slim phone with a big battery.
It uses the Samsung Exynos 1480 (4 nm) with an octa-core CPU of four Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.75 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.0 GHz, plus an Xclipse 530 GPU. RAM is 8GB and storage is 128GB or 256GB. SpecHub has not benchmarked the phone.
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display has 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+ at the front. The panel size and resolution match the Galaxy A36 5G.
A 50MP main camera is listed. Other rear and front cameras, apertures and video modes are omitted because we could not verify them. SpecHub has not tested image quality.
The battery is 5000 mAh with 45W wired charging, the same figures as the Galaxy A36 5G. Wireless charging is not listed. We have no endurance or charge-time tests.
The phone runs Android 15 with One UI 7, and Samsung lists six years of system updates. It does not have a water-resistance rating listed, unlike the IP67-rated Galaxy A36 5G.
People in markets where it is sold, who want a slim, lightweight phone with a 120Hz screen and a large battery, are the main audience.
Buyers who want water resistance, a metal frame or the Galaxy A-series update promise of six OS upgrades should look at the Galaxy A36 5G or A56 5G.
The Galaxy M56 5G puts a large battery and 120Hz screen into a thin 180 g body, at the cost of water resistance and a plastic build. It is a practical choice where the M series is available.
