This is an editorial analysis of the specifications listed on this page. It is not based on SpecHub lab testing, so it makes no claims about benchmarks, battery life or camera results. Manufacturer lab figures are not reproduced here.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 was announced on January 22, 2025 and released on February 3, 2025. It is the compact model in the S25 family, with a 6.2-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, 12GB of RAM and a triple rear camera.
This page lists the S25 family in general. Network bands and SIM arrangements differ between the International, USA and China versions (model numbers include SM-S931B, SM-S931U and SM-S9310), so check the exact model before you buy.
The chipset is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750-AC, 3 nm), with two Oryon V2 Phoenix L cores at up to 4.47GHz and six Oryon V2 Phoenix M cores at up to 3.53GHz, plus an Adreno 830 GPU at 1200MHz.
Every version has 12GB of RAM, with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage. The 128GB version uses UFS 3.1 and the larger versions use UFS 4.0. There is no card slot. SpecHub has not run benchmarks on this phone.
The display is a 6.2-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel at 1080 x 2340 pixels (about 416 pixels per inch) with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. GSMArena lists a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, which is a listed figure and not a SpecHub measurement.
The glass is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The 12MP front camera (f/2.2) records 4K video at up to 60fps.
The rear cameras are a 50MP main (f/1.8, 1/1.56-inch sensor, optical stabilisation), a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and optical stabilisation, and a 12MP ultrawide (f/2.2, 120 degrees). There is no periscope telephoto.
Video goes up to 8K at 24 or 30fps, with 10-bit HDR and HDR10+ listed. These are listed capabilities; SpecHub has not tested photo or video quality.
The battery is a 4,000mAh Li-Ion cell, charged at up to 25W wired (PD3.0), 15W wireless (listed as Qi2 Ready) or 4.5W reverse wireless. GSMArena lists the wired charging as reaching 50% in 30 minutes, which is a stated figure and not a SpecHub test.
SpecHub has not run battery-life tests, so no endurance claim is made here.
The phone launched with Android 15, and GSMArena lists up to 7 major OS updates. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7 (tri-band), Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GNSS support for GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO and QZSS, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port with DisplayPort 1.2.
Other listed features are an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor, Samsung DeX and Samsung Wireless DeX, stereo speakers and IP68 dust and water resistance. There is no 3.5mm jack and no FM radio.
People who want a flagship-chip Android phone in a compact, 162 g body will find the most to like. It also suits buyers who want IP68 resistance, Wi-Fi 7 and a long update promise without a large screen.
Buyers who want a 200MP camera, a periscope telephoto, a stylus or a larger battery should look at the Galaxy S25 Ultra. People who want a headphone jack, a card slot or faster wired charging than 25W may prefer another phone.
On paper, the S25 is a compact flagship: it shares its chipset with the S25 Ultra but has a smaller screen, a smaller 4,000mAh battery, 25W charging and a simpler triple camera. It is best suited to people who value size and weight over camera reach and battery capacity.
