The Pixel 6 was Google's standard 2021 flagship, released on October 28, 2021 at $599 in the US. It introduced the first-generation Tensor chip and the camera-bar design. It suits buyers who want a Pixel with a large screen and wireless charging at a lower cost than the Pixel 6 Pro.
The phone uses the first-generation Google Tensor (5 nm) with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, plus the Titan M2 security chip. There is no memory card slot. SpecHub has not benchmarked the phone.
The 6.4-inch AMOLED display has 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate, with Gorilla Glass Victus protection and HDR10+ support. The Pixel 6 Pro has a larger 6.7-inch screen that supports up to 120Hz.
The rear cameras are a 50MP main camera with optical stabilisation and a 12MP ultrawide. The front camera is 8MP. There is no telephoto lens, which the Pixel 6 Pro adds. SpecHub has not tested image quality.
The battery is 4614 mAh with 30W wired charging and 21W Qi wireless charging. Battery Share lets it charge other devices wirelessly. We have no endurance tests.
The phone launched with Android 12. It has stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and a USB-C 3.1 port, and it is rated IP68.
Buyers who want an older Pixel with a large display, wireless charging and good water resistance, usually at a discount, are the main audience.
People who want a telephoto lens or 120Hz should look at the Pixel 6 Pro. Those who want a newer chip and longer support should consider a later Pixel.
The Pixel 6 is a capable first-generation Tensor phone with a large screen and wireless charging. Its age and lack of a telephoto lens are the main limits.
