The Pixel 9 is the standard model of Google's 2024 line, announced on August 13, 2024 and released on August 22 at $799 in the US, $100 more than the Pixel 8. It has a redesigned body, a 6.3-inch display and 12GB of RAM. It suits buyers who want a current Pixel without paying for a Pro.
Performance and Processor
The phone uses the Google Tensor G4 with the Titan M2 security chip, 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. Google promises seven years of OS and security updates. SpecHub has not benchmarked the phone.
Display Experience
The 6.3-inch Actua OLED display has 1080 x 2424 pixels and a refresh rate of 60-120Hz, with a peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits. The Pixel 9 Pro has the same screen size but a higher-resolution LTPO panel with a peak of 3,000 nits.
Camera Experience
The rear cameras are a 50MP main and a 48MP ultrawide, and the front camera is 10.5MP. There is no telephoto lens, which the Pro models add. SpecHub has not tested image quality.
Battery and Charging
The battery is 4700 mAh with 27W wired charging and 15W wireless charging, plus Battery Share. We have no endurance tests.
Software and Features
The phone launched with Android 14 and has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP68 resistance.
