Phone Overview
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was announced on January 17, 2024 and released on January 24, 2024. It combines a 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB of RAM, a titanium frame, a built-in S Pen stylus and a four-camera rear system led by a 200MP sensor.
This page lists the details of the S24 Ultra family in general. Network bands and SIM arrangements differ between the International, USA and China versions (model numbers include SM-S928B, SM-S928U and SM-S9280), so check the exact model before you buy.
Performance and Processor
The phone uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (SM8650-AC, 4 nm). The eight CPU cores are one 3.39GHz Cortex-X4, three 3.1GHz Cortex-A720, two 2.9GHz Cortex-A720 and two 2.2GHz Cortex-A520, paired with an Adreno 750 GPU at 1GHz.
Every configuration has 12GB of RAM, with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. There is no memory card slot, so the storage size chosen at purchase is final. SpecHub has not run benchmarks on this phone.
Display Experience
The screen is a 6.8-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel with a 1440 x 3120 resolution (about 505 pixels per inch) and a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports HDR10+ and is listed with a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, which is a listed peak rating and not a SpecHub measurement.
Protection is Corning Gorilla Armor with a DX anti-reflective coating. The 12MP front camera (f/2.2) records 4K video at up to 60fps.
Camera Experience
The rear setup has four cameras: a 200MP main (f/1.7, 1/1.3-inch sensor, optical stabilisation), a 12MP ultrawide (f/2.2, 120 degrees), a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom. Both telephotos have optical stabilisation. Laser autofocus is also listed.
Video goes up to 8K at 24 or 30fps, 4K at up to 120fps and 1080p at up to 240fps. These are listed capabilities; SpecHub has not tested photo or video quality.
Battery and Charging
The battery is a 5,000mAh Li-Ion cell. Charging is listed at 45W wired (PD3.0), 15W Qi wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. GSMArena lists the wired charging as reaching 65% in 30 minutes, which is a stated figure, not a SpecHub test.
SpecHub has not run battery-life tests, so no endurance claim is made here.
Software and Features
The phone launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1, and up to 7 major OS updates are listed. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7 (tri-band), Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GNSS support for GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO and QZSS, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port with DisplayPort 1.2.
Other listed features are an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor, Ultra Wideband, Samsung DeX and Samsung Wireless DeX, stereo speakers and IP68 dust and water resistance. There is no 3.5mm jack and no FM radio.
Who Should Consider This Phone?
People who want a large-screen Android flagship with a built-in stylus, two telephoto cameras and a long update promise will find the most to like. It also suits buyers who want a titanium frame and IP68 resistance.
Who May Prefer Another Phone?
Buyers who want a smaller or lighter phone (it weighs 232 g or 233 g), a headphone jack, a card slot or faster charging may prefer something else. Buyers who want the newer chipset should look at the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Editorial Verdict
On paper, the S24 Ultra is a feature-rich flagship built around its stylus, 200MP main camera and two telephotos. Its limits are weight, a modest charging spec and the lack of a card slot or headphone jack. It is best suited to people who value camera versatility and a stylus.
